Felted Candle Hurricanes
It was instant attraction the moment I first caught site of a felted hurricane while trailing my fellow felters abroad. A swarm of possible illumination recipes began swirling in my mind. Drawing my thoughts after spending some time with the Lord, I concluded “Wool from sheep, light from the Lord” I hand felt these one at a time by wet felting wool roving or batting generally from our Texel and Border Leicester Sheep. Luster fibers such as silk and viscose are often added on the outer layer of wool for extra shine, flash and texture. Some are further adorned with needle felted wool designs.
* Please keep in mind hand felting takes time, therefore I trickle designs on one at a time as I make them in between all my other labors. Be sure to check back occasionally for new additions.
There are several ways to illuminate your wool felted candle hurricane (see other options below), in addition to other uses, like a flower vase or a utensil holder. They can be enjoyed through all seasons, even changing out to use a different design. They can be flattened in a drawer for space savings storage and easily re-shaped for use.
