We select our Texel's for superior breed standard and confirmation, good productivity, ease of lambing, and strong mothering instincts and easy-going dispositions.  We then breed striving to maintain and improve the aforementioned traits.  Genetic testing our Texel stock helps us strive for things like RR Scrapie resistant codons, assuring the presence of myostatin gene, the absence of Callipyge gene, and OPP negative animals.  "Consider adding a Texel ram as a terminal sire to your program to take full advantage of the added Texel value.  Texel ewes can significantly advance your program by contributing their half of the equation."
